Native Houstonian, dental hygienist, artist and author, Rhonda Radford Adams considers herself a self taught healing artist. Creating art has given her first hand life experience of the positive effects that color has on our physical, mental and emotional health. Acquainted with expressing her creativity through a variety of materials from paper to glass, Rhonda’s mixed media collage techniques combine the use of bold colors, fun textures, and fluid movements to create her signature style of abstract art. Having visited more than 15 countries around the world, much of Rhonda’s creativity is also inspired by her interactions through her travels.

A third-generation dental hygienist with 34 years in clinical and community health outreach, her passion for creativity inspired the use of storytelling and hands-on art activities to help reduce anxiety and fear of dental visits. Experienced in working with arts-in-medicine programs, Rhonda termed this style ‘art-in-dentistry’ to creatively present oral health education in the “The Hot S.P.I.T. Chronicles”. This whimsical series of expressive arts health stories, teaches children the connection between dental habits and overall wellness. ‘Helena Hygiena’ and her dental team travel on adventures that help bring creative and fun dental health lessons to children, caregivers, teachers, and school nurses.

Rhonda continues to transform her passion for wellness and creativity into a growing line of healing art workshops and products to provide creative outlets to others. She partners with non-profit organizations, healthcare facilities, and schools to promote healthy lifestyles through her healing arts workshops. Rhonda’s vision is to continue to build on her personal practice of creativity while strengthening global dialogue that conveys the importance of an overall healthy lifestyle of all ages.
