Dr. Junrui Garcia
Junrui Garcia was born in China and holds a Ph.D. in Education. Dr. Garcia used to be a school administrator. She has been working as an artist and art teacher for more than two decades. She is the founder, manager, and artist of Art Green Island.
Dr. Garcia is also the Chief Editor for both the Young Artists Excellence Collection and the Chinese Art Excellence Collection. Her aesthetic practice is a combination of Eastern and Western art styles. She has published different types of artworks along with several articles about art. She enjoys working on visual arts such as digital art, sand art and calligraphy with young scholars.
Recently, she has received Trauma-Informed Art Practice training at YA which inspires her to use Chinese calligraphy as a silent approach for students to manage themselves. To achieve this goal, she has started to create Chinese calligraphy works that integrates English interpretation. Delightedly, she sees that her students don't feel as if they are strangers to Chinese calligraphy anymore because they understand what their teaching has created and become inspired to create their own Chinese calligraphy.
Dr. Garcia believes that art is a beautiful activity which brightens up our lives. Therefore, everyone should always find some time and enjoy creating and appreciating art. As a teaching artist, her goal is to help young scholars enjoy and appreciate culture through art.
