Dr. Junrui Garcia
Junrui Garcia is a certified visual artist and experienced educator with a Ph.D. in Education.
She currently teaches art at T.H. Rogers School in Houston. She is the founder, manager, and
lead artist of Art Green Island, as well as the founder of Art Horizon, a platform dedicated to
showcasing artistic and cultural excellence.
Since 2021, Junrui has been working as a teaching artist with Young Audiences of Houston,
leading visual arts, Chinese calligraphy, and digital art workshops in libraries, schools, churches,
and community parks. Her creative teaching blends traditional techniques with contemporary
practices, inviting learners of all backgrounds to explore and express their unique voices.
Rooted in both Eastern and Western aesthetics, her artwork includes sand art, digital illustration,
and bilingual calligraphy that integrates English interpretation with Chinese characters. She is
currently expanding her creative skill set by studying UI/UX Design at the McCombs School of
Business at the University of Texas at Austin, combining her passion for visual storytelling with
human-centered design.
Junrui believes that art is a joyful and transformative force. Through her teaching and practice,
she inspires students and communities to enjoy art while creating it—encouraging them to
connect, reflect, and thrive through creative expression.
