Cook Learn Grow

Cook Learn Grow was founded by Lori Hinze, a former elementary educator and passionate home cook who recognized the deep connection between food education and lifelong learning. Drawing on her background in curriculum development and her love for teaching, Lori created Cook Learn Grow with the vision of providing children with hands-on culinary experiences that not only build kitchen skills but also reinforce academic concepts like math, science, and reading. She launched the program in Austin, Texas, as a small, after-school enrichment class, combining structured lessons with the fun and creativity of cooking. Her goal was simple but powerful: to empower kids with knowledge and confidence through food.

As interest quickly grew, Cook Learn Grow expanded into additional schools and cities, gaining a reputation for its engaging, kid-friendly approach to culinary education. Lori’s emphasis on fresh ingredients, age-appropriate techniques, and safety in the kitchen helped differentiate the program, while her belief in the value of experiential learning remained at the core. Over time, Cook Learn Grow evolved from a local program into a broader educational initiative, reaching thousands of students across Texas and beyond. Under Lori's leadership, the program continues to inspire young chefs, nurture curiosity, and foster a lifelong appreciation for cooking and healthy eating.
