Monica Isomura
Monica is a professional classical singer with extensive training and experience in opera, who is now primarily dedicated to teaching voice and music fundamentals to students of all ages. A passionate educator, Monica has taught at many schools and for many arts organizations across Houston.
She currently sings for The Houston Congregation of Reform Judaism and maintains a thriving private voice studio in the Houston Heights. Monica holds a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University, a master’s degree from the University of Michigan, and a doctorate in voice from Stony Brook University in New York.
Monica has extensive experience working with early childhood students and the developing brain, specifically ages 0-5 and is currently completing an additional certificate degree in child development and administration. Monica's early childhood programs focus heavily on cognitive development, social and emotional development, speech and language development, fine motor skill development, and gross motor skill development through an arts-based approach. Monica's creative approach to early childhood education includes a Diversity Action Plan that includes anti-bias educational goals where learners will be able to express comfort and joy with human diversity; accurate language for human difference; and deep, caring human connections.
