Dan Egger-Belandria
Dan represents a new generation of Latin musicians. Born in the U.S., his family heritage and childhood are tied to Venezuela where his spark for tropical music and percussion first began. Having studied jazz at the University of Missouri, Dan is a skilled conga, bongo, timbale and drumset player. He has also taken classes throughout the Americas with drumming masters including Adel Gonzalez (Chucho Valdes, Afro Cuban All Stars), Miguel "Angá" Diaz and Enrique Plá (Irakere), Amadito Valdés and Carlos Gonzalez (Buena Vista Social Club), Modesto Cepeda (director/Escuela de Bomba y Plena de Puerto Rico). Dan has recorded and performed throughout the U.S. and abroad in a variety of musical genres. He is the bandleader for 'Señor Gato' and the creator of the unique AquaDrums presentation that combines light, percussion and water for which he has toured in the U.S. and internationally. For more than 15 years, Dan has dedicated himself to the art of Afro-Cuban and Caribbean drumming. His musical journey also includes accompanying DJs in musical styles ranging from Salsa, Rock and Reggaeton. In 2007, he toured the U.S. with Mix-Master Mike of the Beastie Boys on a Bacardi B-Live Tour. Dan also combines his musical skills with his diversity-training background to design and facilitate productivity-enhancing and multicultural programs for corporations and schools.
